Funds for urban infrastructure and environment granted to Hortolândia

US$22 million loan agreement signed with the Brazilian municipality.

(Brasilia, April 11, 2012).– CAF - Latin American development bank - signed a loan agreement for US$22 million with Hortolândia municipality in Brazil to remedy deficiencies in urban infrastructure and environmental problems. The funds will be used to finance part of the Urban Infrastructure and Protection of Natural Areas Program.

The agreement was signed by Moira Paz Estenssoro, CAF director representative in Brazil, and Hortolândia Mayor Angelo Perugini,.

"This program, supported by CAF and executed by the Municipality, is expected to reduce levels of vehicle congestion and the risk of flooding around the Chanukah River, thus optimizing the quality of life of the inhabitants," Paz Estenssoro said.

The loan to Hortolândia, located in the Sao Paulo region, represents 50% of the total cost of the program and includes two major components: first, the Road System with construction of a bridge over the railway, the Jacuba River and access roads to the bridge; and second, addressing the environmental area with construction of two containment reservoirs for flood control .
