CAF—development bank of Latin America—wishes to know the main trends and challenges for the future data agenda in the region, with the aim of inserting governments of the region into the data economy, and supporting revival strategies through the digital transformation of the state.
To receive inputs, CAF launched a call for proposals, together with the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD) for experts from the region to develop research in the following areas of interest:
Enrique Zapata, chief executive of CAF’s Directorate of Digital Innovation of the State, notes that this “is the first regional effort that seeks to understand the region’s opportunities in terms of data, not only to address today’s needs, but also to help Ibero-America anticipate the demands that this agenda will require in 5 or 10 years into the future.”
A total of 21 proposals were received, which were evaluated by a committee made up of CAF and GPSDD officials. Six proposals were selected:
Each winner of the proposals will receive a USD 5,000 grant to develop it in the first half of 2022. This research will be the basis for a report to be published by CAF during the course of the year on the future data agenda in the region.
