CAF will reach 35% green financing in 2024

Of Brazilian nationality, Moss de Souza came to CAF after an impressive career at Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), where he headed up the Energy Development Department and coordinated the development of the National Energy Efficiency Plan.
He worked as a researcher at the Center of Electrical Energy Research (CEPEL), where he had the opportunity to develop projects having to do with renewable energies, both solar and wind power, energy efficiency, the effects of electrical and magnetic fields, and other areas.
During his professional career, he also performed a variety of functions at Schlumberger Ireland Services, Europe Unit, on an oil platform in the North Sea.
Moss de Souza is an electrical engineer with a degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he also obtained a Master’s in Production Engineering.
On the academic side, he has been a professor of Energy Source and Energy Distribution at the Volta Redonda University Center (UNIFOA), and on the international front, he represented Brazil at the International Partnership on Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC), an initiative that brings together several countries that have links with the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Today, CAF is one of the main sources of multilateral financing in Latin America, basically for infrastructure and energy. In the past year, it allocated 50% of its approvals to financing economic infrastructure and integration, 30% to social and environmental development, and 20% to the development of productive sectors.
