(Caracas, February 19, 2008).- The CAF gallery begins 2008 with the Icons of Christianity exhibition which will open on Thursday February 21 at 8 pm. Prior to the opening, Benedictine monk Lawrence Freeman will lead the Meditation Way of Peace encounter in the Antonio José de Sucre auditorium at 6:30 pm.

The Icons of Christianity exhibition is formed by works from Eastern Europe with extremely high artistic value, representing devotional images historically related to the practice of prayer and meditation. Until its close on May 8, the CAF gallery will be a space for reflection and recovery of the spiritual values of the Christian tradition, prevailing in the region.

As part of this exhibition, CAF has invited to its home Benedictine monk Laurence Freeman, on his first visit to Venezuela, to promote an inter-religious dialogue with the universal message of the World Community for Christian Meditation, of which he is spiritual director.

This exhibition reconfirms CAF's efforts to support and disseminate universal art in our country. In the past, the space has paid homage to important plastic artists of the stature of Francisco Narváez, Enrique Grau y Alfredo Boulton, and other masters such as Oswaldo Vigas, Edgar Negret, Víctor Valera, Carlos Cruz Diez, Ángel Hurtado, Oscar Pantoja, among others.

Exhibition in the CAF Gallery Icons of Christianity will be open to the public from February 21 to May 8, at the following times: Monday to Friday: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Sunday: 11:00 am to 3 pm Admission free
