IE Business School Announces Finalists of the III Ibero-American Economic Journalism Prize

IE Business School has announced the names of the 30 finalists in the III Ibero-American Economic Journalism Prizeawarded by the institution. Three hundred articles, reports, interviews and different genre pieces from more than 150 media outlets in the region have been submitted in the contest, endowed with US$13,000 in prizes. The contest is sponsored by CAF -development bank of Latin America- and Fundación Codere, and is supported by CNN en Español y Casa de América.

 

Award Ceremony: June 20 at Casa de América

 

The jury chosen to select the winners is composed of journalists from international media companies including the Financial Times, CNN and the Wall Street Journal, as well as IE Business School, CAF -development bank of Latin America-, Fundación Codere, Casa de América, the Inter American Press Association and the Organization of American States.

 

The award ceremony will take place June 20th at Casa de América (Madrid), previous editions were held in Mexico (2011) and Colombia (2012).

 

2012 Edition

 

In its 2012 edition, the prize for the best article in the periodical press category was awarded to "The country of start-ups" by journalist Bruno Galo, published in Brazil's ISTOÉ DINHEIRO magazine. "Conquering the pyramid base" by journalist Maria Gabriela Ensinck, published in Argentina's EL CRONISTA newspaper, took top honors for best article in the daily press category.

 

The jury also recognized with mentions the reports entitled "The favelas' new economy" by business journalists Miriam Leitão and Valeria Maniero, published in the Brazilian newspaper O GLOBO; as well as 'Sorting out a road ridden with stones" by journalist Ana Cristina Camacho published in Costa Rica's EL FINANCIERO, in the daily and periodical categories, respectively.

 

Peru's EL COMERCIO and Mexico's ENTREPRENEURmagazine were recognized as publications that are committed to spreading economic culture among the public.

 

Fundación CODERE's mention for Innovation in the entertainment, leisure and tourism industry went to journalist Kathy García from Colombia's LA REPÚBLICAnewspaper, for her article "Chic Experience: A bet on luxury tourism in Bogotá and Cartagena."
