Indicators of Technological Innovation 2016
For the third consecutive year, CAF presents the Indicators of Technological Innovation and the Indicators of Technological Innovation by Region 2016, which evaluate the state of technological innovation in Latin America, and compare the region with Asia, Europe, and North America

The indicators include high technology exports, royalties for the use of intellectual property, applications for patents via PCT, applications and concessions of patents at the USPTO, and applications and concessions of patents at the EPO.
The annual data of these indicators enables the evaluation of the impact of CAF's patent initiative in the countries and at a regional level, allowing for the improvement of public policies in this area.
CAF's Regional Initiative for Patents for Development intends to create a regional platform that contributes to increase high technology exports.
