(Montevideo, October 22, 2012). CAF—development bank of Latin America—together with the Latin American Integration Association (LAIA) launched the Integration and Trade Virtual Training Center, with the aim of enhancing training and internationalization of Latin American SMEs, through courses taught by FLACSO.

For CAF Director-Representative in Uruguay, Gladis Genua, “this project is part of CAF’s support to country development by inserting their companies in international markets, creating information and training tools to leverage communication technologies and facilitate business, while boosting growth of Latin American exports.”

“In a region where 90% of businesses are micro, small and medium-sized, these tools are essential, as they facilitate regional coordination and knowledge,” Genua concluded.

The Virtual Training Center is a LAIA-CAF joint project aimed at foreign trade agents, entrepreneurs (especially in SMEs), foreign trade managers of exporting companies, public officials of trade agencies, embassy staff in charge of trade promotion, officials of trade promotion institutions, students, researchers and professionals interested in international trade.

The courses will be taught by top experts form the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), and will cover various aspects of regional integration, with special emphasis on trade and business frameworks set out in LAIA agreements.
