(Caracas, August 8, 2011) .- CAF - Latin American development bank - and the Latin American Economic System (SELA) are jointly participating in the Interoperability and Harmonization of Foreign Trade One-Stop Windows project.

The project is part of CAF’s activities in support of the Pacific ARCO Initiative.

"This project on which we are moving forward jointly with SELA continues and expands the scope of the actions we have been taking individually in the ARCO countries to facilitate their foreign trade and strengthen their economies," CAF President and CEO Enrique García said.

Development of Foreign Trade One-stop Windows (VUCEs) where all the paperwork is concentrated in a single public body "is an important milestone in the dynamics of the foreign trade of our shareholder countries because it will unify and simplify procedures, in a way similar to the system the Asian countries have already implemented," the CAF president added.

During this first phase of the project, the VUCE systems of Colombia and Panama will be approved as part of a long-term program to approve their counterparts in the other ARCO countries.
