Joint initiatives with Simon Bolivar University of Venezuela for education for development

  • The two institutions will make a joint effort to promote research and generate knowledge on regional issues.
  • They are united by common goals in the academic, cultural and research fields in favor of Latin American integration.

(Caracas, February 4, 2011) .- To promote education for regional integration and sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean, Enrique Garcia, president & CEO of CAF - Latin American development bank, and Enrique Planchart, rector of Simón Bolívar University (USB) in Caracas today signed a cooperation agreement.

“For CAF it is a priority to strengthen alliances with Latin American institutions "with which we can deepen academic cooperation and research as a means of strengthening the effectiveness of our actions in favor of the sustainable development of our shareholder countries and regional integration," García said.

For his part, the USB president said "this agreement has great promise for Simón Bolívar University given that we have many ideas and projects in progress which we want to share with CAF to ensure a competitive global education of our young people."

The agreement aims to promote cooperation between the two institutions on projects which strengthen priority areas for national and regional development, such as education, research and training, and organization of academic meetings and cultural and sports activities, exchange of experts and preparation of publications, among others.
