The Bolivian Business Confederation -CEPB- and the Andean Development Corporation presented the Biography of Bolivian Private Enterprise, a three-volume work that reviews the corporate sector´s participation in the economic history of Bolivia during a century and half, and its contribution to national development. The publication by journalist Ricardo Sanjiés is sponsored by the CAF.
CAF Executive President Enrique García emphasized the importance of this bibliographical launch as a contribution to national history from the standpoint of an important sector of the Bolivian economy and society, which has contributed to creating wealth and strengthening the country’s institutions.
García reflected on the importance of a critical reading of history to project attitudes in the future and improve the quality of the contributions of each social sector, particularly the business sector, in the task of national development.
The first volume - Entrepreneurs in History - outlines the history of productive activity since the foundation of the Republic; describes the characteristics of the outstanding Bolivian business figures of the 19th and 20th centuries; details the role of the national business sector in political life; and shows the circumstances in which the CEPB was created and its fight for freedom and democracy.
The second volume - The Conquest of Democracy and the Market - presents the decisive role played by the CEPB in the last cycle of military dictatorships, and its contribution to strengthening the democratic system, along with a description of the process of hyperinflation and the relevance of the free market model in Bolivia.
The third volume - The Challenges of the 21st Century - describes the collapse of a political system based exclusively on the pursuit of governance and its negative impact on the Bolivian economy and society.
