(Montevideo, Oct. 22, 2012). CAF –development bank of Latin America– along with the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) launched the Virtual Integration and Trade Training Center, with the goal of contributing to the training and internationalization of Latin American small and medium-sized enterprises through courses taught by the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences, or FLACSO (by its Spanish acronym.)

CAF Country Director in Uruguay Gladis Genua said, “This project is part of CAF’s support for countries’ development through their enterprises’ international insertion, creating information and training tools which, thanks to communication technologies, facilitate businesses and contribute to Latin American exports’ growth.”

She added, “In a region where 90 percent of companies are micro, small and middle size, this kind of tools –that facilitate coordination and regional knowledge– are fundamental.”

The Virtual Center is a joint ALADI-CAF project that targets foreign trade agents, businessmen (especially small and mid-size), foreign commerce managers at exporting companies, embassy personnel in charge of trade promotion, trade promotion institutions’ officials, students, researchers and professionals interested in international commerce.

The courses, which will be taught by FLACSO experts, will include several regional integration dimensions, with a special emphasis on trade aspects and businesses that the ALADI agreement generates.
