As part of the celebrations for its 50th anniversary, CAF—development bank of Latin America—honors the work of this knowledgeable creator in the fields of art and science, in an effort to highlight the validity of his thought with works by nine talented contemporary Venezuelan artists from various disciplines, which evoke a relationship with that creative spirit.

Rafael Araujo, Isabel Cisneros, Graziano Gasparini, Víctor Hugo Irazábal, Antonio López Ortega, Carlos Medina, Julio Pacheco Rivas, Aureliano Parra and Antolín Sánchez are the nine artists who took on the challenge of expressing their connection with that Renaissance vision, showing their creative approaches to da Vinci’s spirit in his various facets, in ingenious and imaginative ways.

“His inventions and discoveries still amaze us today due to his foresight. The countries of the world, especially in the West, celebrate in da Vinci their desire for development and cultivation, for a flourishing world of infinite paths and possibilities. We thus join all those who have seen in da Vinci an essential reference of human development in all spheres,” said Luis Carranza, CAF executive president.

For her part, Mariela Provenzali, curator of the sample, noted: “In this exhibit, nine artists approach Leonardo da Vinci to honor his life and legacy, as proof of having learned the principles that emerged during the Renaissance, which sparked the transformation of thought.”

Thus, these artists have been summoned to celebrate the life of this acclaimed universal genius, who devoted his life to the exploration of the human being and the world in all its forms.

The exhibit “500 after Leonardo da Vinci” will be open to the public at the CAF Gallery, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. starting on June 26, 2019.
