CAF will reach 35% green financing in 2024

ICT ministers, regulators, operator executives and technology companies, leaders of international agencies and academic institutes in the sector are among the first confirmed to attend the 7th edition of the annual forum to discuss digital public policies in Latin America, to take place in July in Argentina.

The seventh edition of the Latin American Telecommunications Congress (CLT19) will feature public sector authorities and senior executives from the digital ecosystem of Latin America and the Caribbean, and will be held on July 1-5 at the Brigadier General Juan Bautista Bustos Convention Center in Córdoba, Argentina. The search for coordinated actions to close the digital divide and transform production processes based on the inclusion of new technologies will set the tone for the event. Attendees will also discuss the impact of the arrival of 5G and spectrum allocation policies.

The Plenary Session of the Congress will include a diverse list of topics to be discussed, including the importance of spectrum in the digitalization processes of economies; the pro-investment agenda for digital infrastructure; the challenges of secure internet under a multi-participatory approach; or the challenges of efficient spectrum planning. In addition, a series of workshops will be held on how to transform Universal Service Funds to close the digital divide in the region; Argentina’s Digital Agenda; Democracy, Freedoms and Rights on the Internet and the Future of Internet Governance; and promoting the deployment of new connectivity networks for 5G, among others.
The CLT19 will also boast a wide range of parallel activities. On Monday, July 1, the annual meeting of Communications Policy Research Latin America (CPR LATAM) will be held, where the continent’s leading academics and researchers will thoroughly analyze ICT public policies in Latin America. On the same day, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will hold the forum “Spectrum Management on the Way to the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19),” a preparatory meeting for this key event for the future of 5G. The Congress will also host the Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Central American Regional Technical Commission of Telecommunications (COMTELCA), on Friday, July 5.
CLT19 is jointly led by ITU, CAF–development bank of Latin America–, the Inter-American Association of Telecommunications Companies (ASIET) and the GSMA, with Argentina’s Secretariat of Modernization as host. It is sponsored by the Government of Córdoba and ENACOM, together with organizations such as COMTELCA, Regulatel, ECLAC-eLAC, ICANN, Internet Society and LACNIC.

About the Latin American Telecommunications Congress
The Latin American Telecommunications Congress (CLT) is the most important annual forum on public policies related to information and communication technologies in Latin America. Each year, it gathers ICT ministers, regulatory authorities and telecommunications executives from across the continent. The CLT is jointly organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), CAF–development bank of Latin America–, the Inter-American Association of Telecommunications Companies (ASIET) and the GSMA. Organized since 2013, it has been held in Panama (on two occasions), Mexico City, Cancun, Cartagena (Colombia), and Varadero (Cuba).
