Naku puppet theater returns to CAF

May 20, 2002

Next Thursday in the CAF auditorium the Naku Theater presents its puppet Cristina dying of love.

Preceded by their well deserved international fame and the success of their last show at the CAF, next Thursday May 23 the Naku Theater will repeat its puppet show for adults "Un despecho a todo pecho" (Devastated in Love).

With script and direction by Sonia González, the show tells the story of Cristina, a little doll manipulated by two actresses, with a monologue that narrates all the phases of a tremendous amorous disillusion.

The letdown is so dramatic that it infects the audience, which is involved in this voyage where Christine relates her dreams of love and suddenly comes down to earth when the terrible blow falls. Hear about potions and prayers to recover impossible loves, listen to telephone conversations, weeping, pitiful laughter, rancheras, children's games and even dances and gossip in discotheques.

In synthesis, the show is a real heartbreaker, just as it happens in real life where beings of flesh and blood suffer the consequences of frustrated platonic love or a breakup that breaks their hearts.

It is an experience that combines tragedy and humor - with scenes that approach the ridiculous – and which takes a profound and fresh look at that feeling of unrequited love, which most of us have lived through at some point in our lives.

The show will take place in the CAF auditorium on Thursday 22nd at 7:00 p.m.
