Natural gas will benefit more than one thousand users from community organizations in Ica

The "Nutri Contugas" project, promoted by CAF, will help implement natural gas connections in 12 community organizations in 5 provinces of Ica

More than 300 members of community organizations, as well as more than one thousand users which include women, children, youths, and senior citizens in vulnerable conditions, from 12 community organizations located in the provinces of Chincha, Pisco, Ica, Nasca, and Marcona, will benefit from the connection to natural gas and the repair and replacement of its facilities. 

This will be possible as a result of a technical cooperation agreement subscribed between Contugas and CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, to promote the Nutri Contugas Program, which includes the internal installation of natural gas and the modernization of equipment in community organizations, helping administrators of these organizations invest greater resources in the quality of inputs, as it will generate savings of more than 50 percent in the use of fuel that is safer, cleaner, and friendlier with the environment. 

This program also has the objective of empowering members of the soup kitchens in their role as community leaders, as they will receive training is diverse topics such as: personal and family development, nutrition, adequate food handling, incorporation of healthy and hygienic menus, management of domestic residues, as well as management so that they can aspire to start small entrepreneurships. 

This training also seeks to improve the quality of life of leaders of these community associations (soup kitchens) in the region of Ica, where 70 percent of women with a partner has suffered some kind of physical, psychological, and/or sexual violence. 

The Nutri Contugas program started in the Province of Marcona in 2015, and to date, three soup kitchens one vaso de leche (glass of milk) program, and one educational facility have benefitted in Ica, Chincha, Pisco, and Marcona.
