One Call, One Community

June 23, 2010

The Technologies for Financial Inclusion Program (MIF + IDB + CAF) welcomes the resounding response to its first Call for Project Ideas that would improve the low-income population’s access to financial services by applying innovative technological solutions in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

420 ideas have been properly entered by organizations from more than 30 countries: 167 ideas come from the Andean Region; 115 ideas were entered in Central American countries, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic; 88 ideas belong to Southern Cone countries; 27 ideas were entered in the Caribbean Region and 21 ideas come from the United States, as well as European and Asian countries.

In addition to this remarkable expression of interest, 800 users have registered in the Program's digital platform. The Call’s relevance is thus confirmed, as well as the importance of this Program as a potential center of exchange and information for the involved actors.

The Program's team and the Selection Committee have begun the evaluation process: eligible ideas will be pre-selected and announced on July 23rd, when the feasibility analysis stage will begin together with the development of the ideas' Project documents.

More information about the proposed ideas (applicant organizations, proposed services, involved technologies) and the evaluation process, will be announced in the Program's digital platform.
