Over 1,500 registered for CAF-Caracas 2011 Marathon

(Caracas, December 14, 2010).- Only two weeks after registration opened, already over 1,500 people have registered to run the CAF-Caracas 2011 Marathon. Runners from Florida, New York, Maryland, Quito, Bogotá, several Brazilian cities and, naturally, all parts of Venezuela, have accepted the challenge of the 42 km or 21 km CAF Marathon.

All sports lovers interested in taking part in the CAF-Caracas 2011 Marathon, with its two options (42 km or 21 km) can register at the event website and be sure of their place. Payment may be made in Venezuela by deposit or transfer to the CAF Marathon account or in cash in authorized stores around the country.

The bank deposit can only be made in offices of Banco Mercantil in Venezuela for the amount of the registration (Bs.F.215.oo). The number of the deposit shown on the Mercantil voucher will be needed to complete the registration process on the webpage. Electronic transfer is a valid option only if it is made from an account in Banco Mercantil to the CAF Marathon account in that bank.

Alternatively, both registration and payment can be made in Nike stores in Sambil C.C., Las Mercedes, CC Líder, and Millennium Mall; and in Valeo stores in El Toulon, C.C. Sambil, Galerías Paraíso, and CC Las Americas (Maracay). In this case the amount has to be paid in cash in bolivares fuertes .

All runners have to be familiar with the rules which can be found on the webpage because they will be accepting these conditions when they formalize their registration. It is important to keep the voucher issued by the stores because it is needed in order to receive the race material the day before the event.

The CAF-Caracas 2011 Marathon is one of the initiatives of CAF – Latin American development bank – organized to celebrate its 40th anniversary, in an effort to stimulate sport as a means of integral development and building integration.

The race has two categories: 21 km and 42 km. For the organization, CAF is working in partnership with the Hipereventos company and has the logistical support for security purposes of the Ministry of People’s Power for the Interior and Justice, Metropolitan Police, National Police, Civil Defense, Traffic Police, Fire department, and the municipal governments and police of Chacao, Baruta, Libertador and Sucre.
