(Caracas, December 4, 2008).- Over 600 people from around the country took part in the fourth graduation ceremony of the Transformer Leadership Program Venezuela, which is promoted by the Andean Development Corporation and executed in alliance with the University Institute of Management and Technology (IUGT).

The main purpose of the program is to identify potential leaders in the region and lay the base for a new style of leadership, enriching their value systems and providing them with the tools they need to assume future leadership responsibilities ethically with a deep civic and democratic sense.

"Conceived on the fundamental principle of the equilibrium which should exist between all the sectors that form a nation - public, private, and civil society - the program aims to overcome existing limitations, open the way for new generations, and strengthen the defense of democratic values in society," Elvira Lupo, CAF director of governance and technical cooperation, said.

Leadership for the Transformation is one of the lines of action which CAF promotes in the area of governance. Operating in five Andean countries - Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela - by 2008 the Program had trained 10,530 leaders from 1,287 municipalities.
