Presidents of Bolivia and CAF open IX Euro-Latin American Communication Forum

November 13, 2003

Bolivian President Carlos Mesa and CAF Executive President Enrique García inaugurated yesterday the IX Euro-Latin American Communication Forum in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, whose deliberations will end on the 12th of this month.

Enrique García took part as speaker in the first session of the event, whose panel discussed the theme New Political Trends in Latin America, with the participation of Manuel Marón of Spain. The IX Euro-Latin American Forum is part of the preliminary activities for the XIII Ibero-American Summit to be held in Santa Cruz on November 14-15 with the heads of state and government of 21 Ibero-American countries.

At the forum, about 40 European and Latin American journalists analyzed and discussed key issues on the regional agenda in an effort to develop a shared vision of Europe and Latin America.

The CAF provides permanent financial support for this type of forum, and actively participates in the debates given its concern for generating new spaces for discussion and analysis on issues relevant to the region.
