Roxana Hartmann shows blue love and freedom at Artespacio CAF

Artespacio CAF, CAF's Art Gallery, opens its exhibition cycle on March 5th, 2015, with the show "Todos los días en todas las cosas" (Every Day in Every Thing), by Roxana Hartman, artist from Santa Cruz. 

Hartmann's proposal seeks to reflect one of the continuous searches of human beings: love and freedom. The abstract art exhibition, as defined by the artist, is made up by a series of paintings and objects that have been intervened; although blue is the prevailing color, there are also warm colors such as red and orange.  

With respect to her work and creative process, the artist points out that her painting reflects how human beings may perceive and feel love and freedom. "I like to play with metaphors and concepts. For example, for me the color blue represents love, as I relate it to the universe, to infinity, and fidelity.²

By intervening objects I want to show the daily challenge that individuals face when trying to make sense of the things that surround us. I think it is always possible to find what is good and positive. Every day we go out trying to find something, and in everything we could find what we are searching for", she stated. 

Emilio Uquillas, CAF's Director Representative in Bolivia, stated, "For CAF's Artespacio, it is a pleasure to present Roxana, as she is an emerging artist and our commitment with Bolivian art is to support young national artists". 

In addition, he stated, "Personally, I like her painting very much. It is transparent, honest, and not presumptuous; I think she is going to go far". 

About the artist

Roxana Hartmann was born in Santa Cruz de la Sierra on November 13th, 1977. She studied art, specializing in graphic design at the University of Kansas in the United States. Currently,  she works as a University teacher and as an artist.

She admits that painting appeared in her professional life in 2011 and, since then, she chose to dedicate herself to it as she considers that through her work she may transcend in time through her messages and ideas. 

She started her career with individual exhibitions in the city of Santa Cruz. In 2008, she presented the show Miradas in the Zery Cultural Center; Going Places in 2011, in the Women's Fair; en 2012, Siempre Manuela Saenz (Manuela Saenz Always) in the Casa de la Cultura (House of Culture), where she returned in 2013 with De amor y de Lucha (Of Love and Fighting).

In 2014, she presented her work La Paz Sea Contigo (Let Peace be With You),in the Bolivian American Center of Santa Cruz (CBA, for its acronym in Spanish), in the Blanco Gallery, in La Paz, and the Museo y Casa Cultural Casa Grau (Museum and Cultural Center) in Bogota, Colombia. 

She was also a part of the group exhibitions in Salta, Argentina, where in 2010 she showed a painting called "Cuñatai" (young girl in guarani) at the El Palacio Gallery. In 2014, she participated in the show Suerte Sin Blanca with Ewel and Gonzalez in the Blanco Gallery. 

Since 2013 she lives in La Paz, and together with artists Erika Ewel and Keiko Gonzalez, she works and promotes the Blanco Cultural Space. 

"Todos los días en todas las cosas" (Every Day in Every Thing) will be open until April 4th in Artespacio CAF, at Av. Arce Nº 2915, corner with Clavijo (San Jorge Area). Visiting hours are from 09:00 to 12:00 and from 14:30 to 18:00.
