Social innovation in Corrientes public schools takes a qualitative leap forward through art

The Entornos Creativos program will be launched in five secondary schools and communities of the province, benefiting at least 1,750 vulnerable young people in schools and more than 12,000 members of the community.

Public schools in the Corrientes province (Argentina) will implement a new program for social transformation and academic and psychosocial improvement through art, supported by CAF-development bank of Latin America, the regional government, the Ministry of Education, and the Crear Vale la Pena Foundation. The agreement was signed by the different public and private stakeholders committed to promoting citizen rights in vulnerable regions of the province.

The program “is based on a creative, recreational strategy and methodology using art as a tool to encourage curiosity and promote creativity, innovation and individual and collective well-being.” Focusing on vulnerable young people, the program trains community artists and teachers to use art in the classroom and the public school setting to improve learning, academic performance, motivation and social skills among teenagers,” said CAF’s Corporate Director of Social innovation, Ana Mercedes Botero.

The initiative will be launched in July 2018 in five secondary schools and communities of the province, through a public-private consortium in Corrientes, benefiting at least 1,750 vulnerable young people in schools and more than 12,000 members of the community. In addition, the program will also train at least 100 teachers in the methodology.
