Strengthening institutional development in Latin America

(Guayaquil, December 23, 2010).- The closing ceremony of the IX Training in Governance and Political Management Program was held in the city of Guayaquil. CAF - Latin American development bank - organizes the Program in alliance with the Santiago Catholic University of Guayaquil and George Washington University. This year 123 participants graduated.

 

"The Governance and Political Management Program," Hermann Krützfeldt , CAF representative -director in Ecuador, said, "was created and developed in 2001 by CAF and is executed with prestigious universities in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Venezuela, with the aim of helping the governments of the region improve governance and directly reach both public and private actors in an effort to equip them a common language and an appropriate methodology."

 

The objective of the program is to strengthen the institutional development of Latin American countries, create a critical mass of leaders in public management and political dynamics at institutional level, and strengthen governance in social actors through processes of participation , negotiation, communication and construction of political, economic and social viability.

 

This year the Program in Guayaquil lasted six months and was targeted at political leaders, middle and senior level officials from municipalities , provincial governments, NGOs and political and citizen movements.
