Stronger Italy-Latin America Ties

José Antonio García Belaunde, CAF representative in Europe, and Donato Di Santo, secretary general of the Italo-Latin American Institute (IILA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen the relationship between the two international organizations by promoting greater cooperation between Italy and Latin America. The signing ceremony was held in Rome within the framework of the 9th Italy-Latin America and Caribbean Conference organized by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) and IILA.

The Italo-Latin American Institute is an intergovernmental organization founded in Rome in 1966, which focuses on cultural, scientific and development cooperation issues. IILA is attached to Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and represents the governments of Italy and 20 Latin American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.
