Support for Program of Urban Infrastructure and Protection of Natural Areas in Hortolândia, Brazil

The purpose is to overcome deficiencies of urban infrastructure and environmental problems in the municipality

(Brasilia, December 23, 2010).- To overcome the deficiencies of urban infrastructure and environmental problems in Hortolândia municipality, Brazil, CAF - Latin American development bank - recently approved a US$22 million loan to partially finance the Urban Infrastructure and Protection of Natural Areas Program implemented by the municipality.

The Hortolândia loan, which represents 50% of the total cost of the Program, has two major components: the Road System, with construction of a bridge over the railroad, the Jacuba River with the respective access roads, and the environmental component of Flood Control with installation of two containment reservoirs.

The Program is expected to cut levels of vehicle congestion and reduce flood risk in the vicinity of Januka River, optimizing the quality of life for the inhabitants of this city, located in the Sao Paulo region.
