May 05, 2016

With the purpose of improving the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the area of technology and access to financial services, the first edition of the FinTech 2015 was held in Buenos Aires. This forum brought together the most important technology entrepreneurs related to financial technology, to discuss the latest trends and impacts of this industry on the region.

The winners of the Pitch Competition were BitCourt, Olly, and Pagos de Última Milla, and received awards from Banco Industrial, Softlayer, Caja de Pagos, and BBVA Innovation Center. They showed all the potential and opportunities existing in the finances and technology sector.

Participants in the contests participated in the NXTP Labs acceleration program, which connects the start-ups with the entrepreneurial ecosystem, companies in the industry, and renowned mentors who helped them promote their business model and validate their products.

The event, organized by NXTP Labs and supported by CAF, included the participation of close to 400 individuals from the commercial banking system, development banks, FinTech companies, investors, governmental representatives, and regulatory organizations who were able to learn about financial innovations related to crowdfunding, peer-to-peer loans, payment platforms, cryptocurrencies, and cybersecurity.

CAF supported the panel on Financial Inclusion, which discussed the impact of technology on the access to financial services for non-banking customers, the financial resources available for the creation and entry into operations of innovating companies, the competitive and collaborative dynamic relationship between traditional banking and the new companies in the market, in addition to the industry's financial regulation.
