The first 1,000 have registered for the

  • Prizes and trophies will be awarded to the first three places in each age group
  • The athletics event will be held November 15 starting from the bus terminal

(La Paz, November 10, 2009).- Over 1,000 people had registered for the first "La Paz 3,600" walking race three days after the start of registration in the five authorized points. The event to be held next Sunday, November 15 is organized by CAF and the La Paz City Government (GMLP) with the sponsorship of the BISA Financial Group.

The winners of this 10 km athletics competition will receive cash prizes and trophies. The first places in each category will receive 1,000 bolivianos, the second places 700, and the third 350. An official T-shirt will be presented to the first 3,600 registered participants who start the race. Surprises have been planned such as hydration en route, commemorative medals for the first 3,600 athletes to cross the line, and refreshments at the arrival site, among others.

The age groups for athletes and sports fans - men and women - are: under 35, 35 to 45, over 45, and people with special capacities.

Registrations close on Friday, November 13. Anyone interested can register free of charge with a photocopy of their identity card in the Municipal Sports Department (Edificio Técnico Municipal, 11 floor); Palacio del Deporte Luis Lastra (Final Presbítero Medina, Sopocachi); Palacio del Deporte Munaypata (Calle San José Desaguadero and Avenida Naciones Unidas, Munaypata); Piscina Orkojahuira (Avenida Pasoskanki, Villa Copacabana); and Piscina Obrajes (Avenida Hernando Siles, Obrajes).

The competition starts at 7:30 am from the Bus Terminal and covers the route: avenida Perú, calle Sucre, avenida Tejada Sorzano, Plaza Villarroel, avenidas Bush and Brasil, calle Lucas Jaimes and Rosendo Villalobos, avenidas Zabaleta, Los Leones and Bautista Saavedra, Plaza San Martín and calle Hugo Estrada to end at Curva Sur of the Hernando Siles Stadium.
