The Governance Program reaches new provinces in Argentina

For the fifth consecutive year, the Catholic University of Cordoba (UCC, for its acronym in Spanish) will hold the Governance, Political Management, and Public Management Program and, as a result of the expansion of the technical cooperation with CAF, training will also be provided to public officials and leaders of the civil society in Cordoba, Salta, San Luís, and Entre Ríos, provinces where the program did not exist. 

The renewal of the technical cooperation alliance between the two institutions reflects the commitment they maintain with the development of public administration and the strengthening of the states' capacities in the region. 

The program, which will be developed through the Graduate School of Political Management at the George Washington University (GSPM - GWU), currently has 230 registered participants, and has consolidated as a comprehensive tool for public training in central and northern Argentina.

The classroom sessions will develop in four provinces, providing continuity to the implementation in Cordoba and Salta, and adding San Luis and Entre Rios to the new edition. For the implementation of the program in each location, specific alliances have been considered with local educational institutions such as the Universidad de Administración Pública de Salta (UPAP - Salta) (Public Administration University of Salta), the Universidad Católica Argentina(Catholic University of Argentina (Facultad Teresa de Ávila - Paraná) (Teresa de Avila- Parana Faculty), and Fundación de Investigación Social Argentino Latinoamericana (FISAL - San Luis) (Argentinean Latin American Social Research Foundation). 

The opening event was simultaneously transmitted to the four locations of the course, integrating the participation of the different regional coordinators allowing to share this first experience at a distance. 

Laura Porrini, Director of IFG and general coordinator of the course, stated, "It is an honor to work in training local leaders that are committed to the development of their communities". At the same time, Alfonso Gómez, President of the UCC, stated that the development of the program's new edition will contribute to train a critical mass of local leaders that will know how to respond to the problems deriving from regional dynamics. 

Leandro Gorgal, Main Executive at CAF's Direction of Institutional Development, highlighted, "Guaranteeing the sustainability of the Governance and Leadership Programs will help consolidate the community of graduates, participants, and teachers that today are part of the Latin American Governance Network". In this respect, the expert invited all the students of the new cohort to join the activities that have been developing in the framework of this initiative.  

In Latin America, the Governance, Political Management, and Public Management Program accumulates 15 years of experience in nine countries of the continent, and has trained more than 15,200 officials. In Argentina, the Catholic University of Cordoba has implemented the Program since 2012, graduating 379 participants to date. In September of 2016, the I National Meeting of Governance and Leadership Graduates will be held in Cordoba, including the participation of former participants in previous editions of the Program, in the framework of the Latin American Governance Network promoted by CAF.
