The National Folklore Ballet of Bolivia makes first visit to Venezuela

In its first visit to Venezuela, the National Folklore Ballet of Bolivia arrives in Caracas to give two performances on August 16 in the Municipal Theater and the 18th in the Plaza Bolivar of Chacao in the east of Caracas.

Directed by choreographer Manuel Acosta, the company brings a glimpse of the rich folklore of the high Andes, with a program of music and dance from the regions of Bolivia: the altiplano over 4,000 meters high, the eastern plains, the central valleys and even the Amazon rainforest. The 27 dancers will present the face of Bolivia, with its blend of indigenous cosmogony and European imaginary.

Aymara and Quechua dances form the program - as well as surisucuris, bailecitos, zapateados, cuecas and carnavalitos - offering the public a tour through the history and customs of a country of immense geographical and human contrasts.

Dance with histor With over 25 years experience, the National Folklore Ballet of Bolivia has visited Mexico, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and now Venezuela. The ballet company has completed 12 European tours and performed at over 50 festivals around the world.

This company, which is part of the Bolivian Ministry of State for Culture, has received glowing reviews from specialized critics and received special distinctions from the World Festival of Montoire, France and the International Festival of the Pyrenees, and the Folklore Olympics of Dijón, France where the dancers won a well deserved Gold Medal.
