The prizes of the second annual Undertaking Peace

The Business Initiative prize, were presented on September 30 in the Gonzalo Jiménez de Quezada Convention Center. The important event was attended by organizations, representatives of finalist companies, partner organizations of the prize, and leading media, among others.

In recent years and in view of the resurgence of the conflict in Colombia, the business sector's commitment to peace building has become more visible and has been assumed by companies as a matter of interest and responsibility.

The purpose of the “Undertaking peace: the business initiative” prize is to enhance the potential of large, medium, small and micro enterprises for generating and contributing to peace building in Colombia.

The winners in the four categories were:

1st Category: Public impact on Peace Building Winner – Coffee Company del Huila Ltda. With its initiative: “Let's live better to harvest quality“

2nd Category: Winner – Augura del Urabá Antioqueño. With its initiative: “Alliance for the Socioeconomic Development of the Urabá Banana Communities“

3rd Category: Winner – Pavco de Occidente. With its initiative: “Inclusion for Peace“

Special mention awarded by CAF for work on the border: Winner – Artesanías de Colombia. With its initiative “Improvement of the competitiveness of craft workers in the country's displaced and vulnerable population“

The winner in each category receives a diploma from the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the German Cooperation Agency (GTZ), plus 10 million pesos in technical assistance granted by GTZ. The winner of the special mention receives US$5,000 in technical assistance from the Andean Development Corporation (CAF). The finalists receive a recognition of their participation and work in peace building signed by all the participating institutions, together with other prizes awarded by the other partners.
