The Simon Bolivar Andean University in the city of Sucre (Bolivia) conferred a Doctor Honoris on CAF President Enrique García in a ceremony in the church of San Felipe Neri, one of the architectural gems of Bolivia’s historical capital. After conferring the Medal of Merit, University Rector Julio Garret highlighted García´s professional merits, mentioning backing for the development of the Faculty of Integration which prepares professionals from Andean countries. Accepting the honor, García gave a wide-ranging presentation on present conditions in Latin American and on the challenges of the international situation for developing countries.

The CAF president received two more honors during his visit to the city. He was awarded the "Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Antonio José de Sucre" decoration for distinguished services by the Sucre City Government, and the "Great Order of the Liberators" by the prefecture of Chuquisaca Department. In both ceremonies, Mayor Aidee Nava and Prefect Felipe Carvajal emphasized the personality of the CAF chief executive and his permanent support for the development of Bolivia and Chuquisaca through programs executed with finance from the Corporation.

During his stay in Sucre, García visited several regional development projects and offered institutional support for a study on competitiveness to identify the strengths and potential of Chuquisaca Department. The local press reported García´s visit, including even a couple of editorials, and suggested his name for the "World Class Bolivians" prize awarded by the Transredes company to Bolivian personalities for outstanding service to the country.
