CAF Executive President Enrique García and IDEA Executive Director Carlos Iturraide signed an agreement to execute the second phase of the Leadership for Transformation Program.
The purpose of this training and education program is to develop leadership skills and abilities in citizens from rural and urban areas capable of building a vision of country, sharing that vision with other actors, and integrating it into their regional identity agenda, formed by transformation actions and guided by ethical and democratic values that strengthen democratic institutions in a climate of social peace.
García said that the initiative was part of the Corporation's activities to strengthen governance and democratic institutions in Andean countries.
The program will be executed on three programmatic bases: individual, collective and public, whose principles are interculturality, and social and gender equity. The core tool is a training program with a duration of four months per city, to be executed in 13 cities over eight months.
About 600 leaders will be trained in vision of country and democratic values, capable of transforming the political, social and economic situation in Bolivia, identifying the most deeply felt needs of their communities with a commitment to the participation of organized civil society.
The Leadership for Transformation program develops human potential by training Bolivian leaders - both men and women - from municipalities, territorial base organizations, vigilance committees, social control organizations, indigenous and peasant organizations, micro-entrepreneurs and other urban and peri-urban organizations.
The program consists of eight modules: 1) democracy, ethics and governance; 2) negotiation, management and dispute settlement; 3) national political and social context; 4) national fiscal and economic context; 5) public management; 6) decentralization and citizen participation; 7) leadership and tools for its development; 8) proposed policy guidelines for strengthening governance; and 9) leadership experiences (recognized international experts).
