US$100,000 grant for emergency in Venezuela

The Latin American financial institution makes this grant as immediate relief for the victims of the rains in Venezuela.

(Caracas, November 30, 2010).- CAF - Latin American development bank - today authorized a US$100,000 grant for the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in response to the emergency caused by torrential rains which have devastated many populated areas of the country.

Enrique García, president & CEO of the financial institution, said "CAF expresses its solidarity with the victims of the heavy rains by approving these non-reimbursable funds for humanitarian aid for the affected population." The funds are being channeled through Civil Defense, the coordinating agency for the emergency efforts at national level, so as to reach the needy as quickly as possible.

CAF supports its shareholder countries in prevention and response to emergencies through financing facilities and non-reimbursable funds, such as the recent approvals in favor of Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica and Haiti.
