CAF—development bank of Latin America—, the Ministry of Production, CONCYTEC and Indecopi have opened a call for proposals until March 8, to participate in CAF’s Intensive Workshop for the development of technology patents in the mining sector, which aims to train participants in the conceptualization of innovative technologies and in the drafting of patent applications for international markets, providing tools for the pursuit of novelty and patenting strategies.
The workshop will be held on March 25 to 29 in Arequipa, and is designed for groups from companies, universities, research centers or corporations in the mining sector, for which costs of lodging and food and other expenses will be covered.

The workshop is designed to outline and develop patent applications, mainly in engineering technologies, which do not require prior validation in laboratories or prototype testing. The lessons learned from the process will allow participants to develop scientific patent applications in the future.
Workshops have already been conducted in eight countries, and more than 1,000 technological patentable concepts have been developed in the region through the CAF method for accelerated patent development, which trains participants in the conceptualization of technology ideas, art design and patent drafting using international formats.
