Summit of the Future
CAF will participate in the Summit of the Future at the UN, an event to renew international cooperation and strengthen multilateralism through the 'Pact for the Future.' This pact addresses challenges in sustainable development, peace, security, and human rights, adapting global institutions to a changing world. CAF will play a key role in highlighting the progress and challenges of Latin America and the Caribbean towards the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. CAF will stress the need to improve global governance and secure adequate financing for equitable and sustainable development in the region.

Governance capacities
In the official agenda of the Summit of the Future, before the 79th High-Level Week of the UN General Assembly in New York, the aim is to discuss the institutional capacities that Latin America and the Caribbean need to face a complex and interconnected world. In the face of challenges such as social transformations, inequalities, and lack of trust in institutions, the discussion will bring together financing, governance, and international cooperation experts to explore new skills, institutional frameworks, and technological solutions. The goal is to define a roadmap with governance tools and digital skills that strengthen governments' ability to lead green and digital transitions toward sustainable regional development.

The Art of Resilience
We invite you to the premiere of the documentary series 'The Art of Resilience' during New York Climate Week, which will include a screening and a panel discussion with the creators. Produced by WaterBear Network in partnership with Resilient Foundation, this series highlights the resilience and leadership of communities that, through innovative initiatives, are transforming their territories and improving the lives of the most vulnerable populations. 'The Art of Resilience' showcases how these initiatives are aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), paving the way towards a more sustainable future.

Second Annual UNDP/CAF
The Second Annual Governance for Development Conference will take place during the High-Level Week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2024, shortly after the Summit of the Future. Organized by UNDP and CAF, this conference aims to strengthen the democracies of Latin America and the Caribbean by restoring dialogue and politics as tools to reduce polarization and achieve consensus around national priorities. Public policy proposals based on subregional dialogues held in Antigua, Cartagena, Santiago, and Port of Spain will be presented, along with an online consultation focused on the region's youth. The goal is to outline recommendations to improve governance and accelerate the implementation of the SDGs, especially SDG16, through a debate space involving actors from various social, political, and academic sectors.

Cities of the Future
CAF will participate in the launch of the 'Task Force of Mayors of the Americas on Migration' during the UN General Assembly in New York on September 23. This event, organized in partnership with the Mayors Migration Council, Emerson Collective, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), will bring together mayors and leaders to discuss migration management in the Americas. The focus will be on how cities can lead in economic inclusion, migrant protection, and green and digital transitions. CAF will highlight the importance of financing city-led solutions to strengthen local governance and intercity cooperation in the region, and will contribute to creating a regional policy roadmap on migration management.

Education cannot wait
CAF will participate in the event 'Education Cannot Wait' during the 79th UN General Assembly in New York. This high-level event, convened by various international actors such as the Government of the Dominican Republic, UNICEF, and UNESCO, aims to discuss the enabling conditions and sustainable financing to achieve the educational goals of the 2030 Agenda, particularly SDG 4. Regional authorities will gather to reflect on strategies that ensure quality, inclusive, and equitable public education, addressing the fiscal challenges and inequalities faced by Latin America and the Caribbean.
