Human development
Inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean is not only a question of income but extends to other dimensions such as education or health, among others. There is an enormous per capita income gap compared to the most developed countries and a strong connection between high inequality and low social mobility, both absolute and relative, which perpetuates the high levels of inequality in the region and determines that individual well-being depends largely on social origin. In this paper, we analyze the challenges and opportunities we have in the region to get out of this intergenerational spiral.
