Green transition

Latin America, the Caribbean, and the European Union share a high commitment to the fight against climate change and the green transition. However, the European Union has managed to materialize this commitment in specific public policies in a binding legal framework, while actions in Latin America and the Caribbean have not been coordinated regionally, which is reflected in different commitment levels of the countries, as well as in decarbonization strategies. This presents challenges and opportunities for cooperation between the two regions. This is what our paper on Environment and sustainability between the EU-LAC is about.

Investments and cooperation to increase the production of other renewable energies in LAC, such as solar and wind where the EU has extensive experience.

Strengthen the voice of Latin America and the Caribbean in large global forums

The promotion of EU-Latin America and Caribbean relations should help the region make its global solutions visible and better integrate into major decision-making forums in the coming decades.
