Iván Haas
The Senior Director General Auditor ensures the protection of CAF’s assets and interests by verifying the existence, dissemination and compliance with the rules. Other responsibilities include evaluating the effectiveness, efficiency, and economy of the processes and issuing recommendations for improvement.
Biography
Iván Haas has more than 15 years of experience in managing debt and public finance for the Republic of Paraguay.
He has served as Deputy Minister of Economy at the Ministry of Finance. In this capacity, he has represented the Republic of Paraguay before various international credit organizations of which the nation is a shareholder: Governor to the World Bank Group, Governor to the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Governor to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) and Director of CAF—development bank of Latin America. He has also served as Debt Policy Director, Head of the Financial Instruments Department at the Debt Policy Directorate, and Public Debt Technical Analyst at the Debt Policy Directorate. Throughout his career, he managed to consolidate operations of Treasury bonds in the domestic market and led the issuance of sovereign bonds in the international market.
He holds a degree in Economics from Universidad Nacional de Asunción. He holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He has also completed complementary studies on public debt, financial programming, and fiscal sustainability.
