General Secretary

The purpose of the General Secretariat is to ensure CAF's relations with institutions and governments for the formalization of agreements that expand its global presence, establish and monitor communication and corporate identity guidelines, direct social innovation, and regional initiatives to support the institutional strategy and strategic objectives.

Alejandra Claros

Alejandra Claros Borda has a degree in Legal and Political Sciences. From a very young age, she held different responsibilities in high political spheres of her country, such as Chief of Staff of the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and National Coordinator of the National Telecommunications Company (ENTEL). Subsequently, in 2015 she joined CAF as the Secretariat Coordinator, later being in charge of the political analysis of the Institution. In December 2021, she was appointed as General Secretary, a responsibility that for the first time in the history of the Institution falls to a woman.

She has a postgraduate degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Plurinational Diplomatic Academy; a master's degree in Multidisciplinary Law from the Universidad Mayor de San Simón (Bolivia) and another in Communication and Political Marketing, that she obtained at the University of Alcalá (Spain). Likewise, she has specialties in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and Technology and Political Subjectivity, both by the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO).
