International technical-practical course on metadata management
CAF—development bank of Latin America—, in partnership with the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) and the Spanish National Geographic Information Center (CNIG), present the theoretical and practical training course on the Latin American Metadata Profile version 2 (LAMPv2) as part of the GEOSUR Program. The course will take place on September 23 to October 31, 2019, and the application period will be from August 5 to September 9.
The course will focus on creating and publishing metadata on geospatial data and services in a metadata catalog. The main features of the current ISO metadata standards (ISO 19115-1, ISO 19115-2, ISO 19115-3) and their relationship to metadata in Space Data Infrastructures will be presented through guided practices, questionnaires, forum discussions, games and additional information. The course also will feature a methodology for the creation and publication of metadata within an organization.
This course promotes capacity building and dissemination of the LAMPv2 profile in the region and is aimed at professionals in Geography or related sciences who implement Metadata Management in their institutions.
Certification
Upon successfully completing the course, students will be able to download their certificate from the platform, endorsed by CNIG, PAIGH and CAF as part of the GEOSUR Program.
Mode
Free online course. Language: Spanish. The course may be taken anywhere and may be adapted to particular schedules and needs. Duration: 6 weeks, from September 23rd to October 31st 2019. Course attendance requires at least one to two hours a day.
