Feasibility Study for Panama’s 100% National Digital Coverage Strategy
CAF has joined forces with Panama’s National Authority for Government Innovation (AIG) to open a public call for consulting services to carry out the Feasibility Study for the country’s 100% National Digital Coverage Strategy. This initiative is part of the regional strategy for the deployment of quality digital infrastructures and technologies that boost competitiveness and productivity of economies and promote social equality by providing internet-based services for households, governments and businesses.
Consultancy is expected to advance a study to collect information, data and recommendations to establish the basis for a set of public policies that develop telecommunications infrastructure in rural and hard-to-reach areas in the Republic of Panama. The project contemplates:
- Establishing public policy bases to encourage investment in telecommunications infrastructure in rural and hard-to-reach areas in the Republic of Panama.
2. Setting economic, technical and operational factors for the development and consolidation of greater telecommunications infrastructure in rural and hard-to-reach areas in the Republic of Panama.
3. Detailing the various alternatives and business models, along with their corporate, operational and governance models that promote the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure in rural and hard-to-reach areas in the Republic of Panama, which will require to review innovative financing tools and instruments that help close the digital divide in the country.
4. Establishing the impact on the nation’s economic growth and equality conditions of digital inclusion, analyzing at least the impact on costs, final service prices and results in connectivity quality.
