Release of the 2013 Economy and Development Report (RED) in Mexico
The launching of the 2013 Economy and Development Report (RED, for its acronym in Spanish), Entrepreneurships in Latin America, from Subsistence Toward Productive Transformation, will be held in Mexico on August 13th, during the Entrepreneurship Week
The 2013 RED analyzes entrepreneurship in Latin America and its key role for the development of the region. It highlights the coexistence of small and micro informal entrepreneurships with larger companies, but with a weak growth dynamic. The latter partly promotes self-employment in view of the lack of working opportunities, which in turn reduces the capacities of the labor force. For this reason, public policies that favor entrepreneurship must have a multidimensional approach that recognizes this crucial link.
The main conclusions of the 2013 RED are summarized in the Focus N°5.
