The role of ethical banking in the transformation of societies
In the framework of its Social Innovation initiative, CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, will lead the meeting with Joan Melé, which will take place on May 4th at the headquarters of the Central Bank of Uruguay, starting at 9:00 A.M.
In his visit to Uruguay, Melé will explain the characteristics that a bank must have to be considered ethical. In addition, he will share his vast experience as a member of the Triodos Bank with those attending the meeting. The bank is a worldwide financial institution, pioneer in the implementation of the model of banking with values. The expert will analyze how the ethical banking model may generate positive impacts in society, through support to companies that develop their activities generating social and environmental value from their businesses.
Joan Melé is a member of the Advising Council of Triodos Bank, the first ethical bank in Europe, founded in 1980. He also heads the company Taller de Conciencia (Awareness Workshop), whose objective is to accompany entrepreneurs, managers, and professionals in their path toward personal transformation to promote positive social changes from their respective roles.
