Women leaders in the newsroom: a journalism edition workshop
This workshop will provide the opportunity for an in-depth analysis of how the gender vision is expressed on a daily basis in the media of the region, and what coverage is given to issues directly or indirectly related to discrimination and violence faced by women in our countries
The Fundación Gabriel García Márquez para el Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano (Gabriel Garcia Marquez Foundation for the New Ibero American Journalism) (FNPI, for its acronym in Spanish), and CAF, Development Bank of Latin America, announce the Women leaders in the newsroom: a journalism edition workshop.
The workshop will deal with the problems of being a female editor in its different expressions and responsibilities in the environment of a newsroom. It will also provide the occasion for all of them to participate in making a small state of the art about the weight and role of women in editorial positions of importance in the different countries of Latin America, and the obstacles the prevent reverting the imbalance.
Up to 15 women journalists will be selected, among editors and reporters with at least five years of experience, of any Latin American country, that work in any journalistic format (radio, written press, Internet, or television).
