Cooperation agreement signed with Mexico.

(Caracas, June 15, 1990).- Mexico and CAF today (Friday 15) signed an agreement to establish an integrated cooperation program.
The previous day (Thursday 14) the CAF Board had approved a resolution which authorized Mexico as CAF shareholder. The respective agreement must be signed within 60 days. Mexico will subscribe a total of 4,000 shares, of which 2,400 will be paid in cash and the remaining 1,500 will be guarantee capital.
The program signed today covers a series of actions:
- Technical assistance from Mexico to CAF on external debt, development banking, privatization, etc;
- Promotion of Andean exports to Mexico;
- Promotion of Andean-Mexico investments;
- Technical Cooperation from Nacional Financiera de Mexico on establishment of financing of industrial parks and free zones;
- Technical cooperation with the Mexican National Foreign Trade Bank for promotion and financing of Andean exports;
- Scholarships for Andean citizens in Mexican educational and research institutions;
- Cooperation on tourism to stimulate this activity Mexico and in the five Andean countries;
- Cooperation in the energy sector to optimize the use of natural resources and environmental conservation.
- Cooperation in the transport sector;
- Cooperation in the agricultural sector;
- Mexican line of credit for goods and services in projects financed by CAF;
- Granting of funds for pre-investment; and
- Technical cooperation funds.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Tobago House of Assembly celebrated the successful completion of the “Digitization and Innovation for the Competitiveness and Sustainability of the Agribusiness Sector in Trinidad and Tobago” project.
