New line of credit signed with Japan
June 23, 1992
(Caracas, June 23, 1992).- A new line of credit was granted to CAF today by the Export-Import Bank of Japan (EXIMBANK). The loan for ¥5 billion (US$30 million) will finance projects in the public and private sectors of the Andean countries which need capital goods, services or products of Japanese origin.
The agreement was signed in Tokyo by CAF President & CEO Enrique García and EXIMBANK President Mitsuhide Yamaguchi.
To date, EXMIMBANK has granted CAF five lines of credit totaling ¥23 billion. One of them, signed in October last year, is untied which means that broader financing packages can be created for projects generated in the member countries. CAF has obtained other untied lines of credit from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), FMO of Holland, and DEG of Germany.
