CAF action in Bolivia for the August 2002- August 2007 period
The Andean Development Corporation (CAF) will grant Bolivia financial assistance of US$1.80 billion for the 2002-2007 period. In the short term, the Corporation will approve around US$350 million for rural infrastructure and domestic gas programs, as well as export support in the framework of the ATPDEA. These are the results of the programming mission that visited Bolivia this week.
The Corporation’s support will focus on six areas of action: 1) economic reactivation, generation of employment and reduction of poverty; 2) governance, institutional strengthening, social exclusion, participation and decentralization; 3) infrastructure; 4) financial systems and capital markets; 5) competitiveness; and 6) environmental sustainability.
The CAF Programming Mission was headed by the CAF president, Enrique García, accompanied by Liliana Canale, vice president of country programs; Fidel Jaramillo, vice president of development strategies; Elvira Lupo, director of governance and technical cooperation; Jesús Miramón, director of industries and financial systems, and Francisco Wulff, specialist from the IIRSA program.
The working agenda included meetings with the president of Republic, Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada, the vice president, Carlos Mesa, and the ministers of Sustainable Development and Planning; Finance; Economic Development; Financial Services; Foreign Trade; Housing and Agriculture. The CAF delegation also met with authorities and representatives from the Bolivian financial system and private sector.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Tobago House of Assembly celebrated the successful completion of the “Digitization and Innovation for the Competitiveness and Sustainability of the Agribusiness Sector in Trinidad and Tobago” project.
