Joint support with Brazilian Development Bank for South American infrastructure projects
The Andean Development Corporation, CAF, in conjunction with the Brazilian Development Bank (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimiento Económico e Social - BNDES), will hold the Seminar on Prospecting South American Physical Integration Projects in the context of a strategic view based on closer relations and the integration of our region.
CAF Executive President Enrique García said the meeting would review mature and priority projects for each of the 12 South American countries with a view to their financing and execution.
“At this first meeting, CAF and BNDES will analyze the selected infrastructure integration projects with government representatives in relation to obtaining joint financing to move ahead with the works,” García said.
The event - to be held in Rio de Janeiro from August 6 to 8 - will be attended by representatives of the IDB, World Bank and IFC. The meeting will promote closer links and the integration of the region within the Shared Operations Plan in which each government has an opportunity to present two high priority projects for each country, which are at an advanced level of preparation and possible financing.
The participating private-sector exporters of construction goods and services will receive information on the priority projects to be executed in the South American countries, and on the available sources of financing applicable to the projects.
The seminar is part of the Cooperation Protocol signed by the CAF and BNDES, which commits the development banks to promoting joint actions to offer financial support and exchange technical information with the aim of fostering the development of South American integration infrastructure.
