Improving the quality of life on the Colombian-Venezuelan border
To support the development of policies and projects to improve living conditions in the Colombian-Venezuelan border area, the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) today signed with the Colombian Embassy in Venezuela, a non-reimbursable technical cooperation agreement for $37,600 to finance the project Evaluation and Presentation of Cross-Border Projects - Phase II to be executed by the diplomatic representation in the country.
Colombian Ambassador in Caracas María Angela Holguín and CAF Executive President Enrique García signed the agreement. García said that the objective of the operation was to support the formulation and appraisal of projects for the border area in the sphere of integrated human development under conditions that guarantee self-sustainability for the beneficiaries.
The living conditions of the inhabitants of the Colombia-Venezuela border areas are relatively less developed than in other areas of these nations; so the border populations require specific social policies designed to reverse this disadvantageous situation.
The technical cooperation will facilitate the start of projects and strategies to correct these deficiencies, which could be considered for financing by international organizations. The projects to be developed relate to four main areas:

The amount represents the largest international facility ever undertaken by Sicredi, with the involvement of four internationally renowned entities: Banco Finantia, BNP Paribas, Eco.business Fund, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Tobago House of Assembly celebrated the successful completion of the “Digitization and Innovation for the Competitiveness and Sustainability of the Agribusiness Sector in Trinidad and Tobago” project.
