Colombia: Seminar on economic growth
CAF and Fedesarrollo organize seminar in Bogota for presentation of the book "Reflections on Resuming Growth."
The Andean Development Corporation (CAF) and the Foundation for Higher Education and Development (Fedesarrollo) today held a seminar on Reflections on Resuming Growth. A select group of experts and opinion formers in Colombia took part in the event with the objective of analyzing the implications of the study for the design of an agenda of sustainable and inclusive economic growth for the country.
At the meeting, CAF announced the results of its recent study Reflections on Resuming Growth: Increased Participation in the Global Economy, Productive Transformation and Social Inclusion, which makes a series of recommendations in response to some of the questions raised.
At the event, the multilateral organization began a process of reflection aimed at identifying elements that define an integrated proposal for resuming the growth of Latin American economies, emphasizing the potential for increased participation in the global economy, mitigating inherent risks and promoting the inclusion of all segments of society.
The book investigates the actions needed to resume sustained high growth, and recommends a renewed strategy based on more and better participation in global trade and capital markets, and on a productive transformation that increases productivity, complemented by a social inclusion strategy that improves the quality of life of the population in the short term and alleviates the high rates of poverty that afflict the region.
