Publications: Migrant Remittances in Latin America and the Caribbean: An alternative development?
The Regional Seminar on Migrant Remittances: an Alternative for Latin America and the Caribbean? was organized by the SELA Permanent Secretariat with financial support from the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) in compliance with Project 1.2.1. “Effects of Migrations on the Regional Integration Process" of the Permanent Secretariat Working Program for 2004.
The event analyzed the socioeconomic effects of migrations on development, particularly the impact of remittances on national economies and their possible channeling into better productive use in the receiving countries with a view to extracting conclusions and recommendations for use by SELA member states. Delegations from 18 SELA members participated along with qualified Latin American and Caribbean experts from other international organizations, as well as interested members of the public.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), CAF -development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean-, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries and the Tobago House of Assembly celebrated the successful completion of the “Digitization and Innovation for the Competitiveness and Sustainability of the Agribusiness Sector in Trinidad and Tobago” project.
